For the last 10 years, I’ve been working on a photo-essay book about people and places in Seattle that’s really about rap, colonization, sports, food, political economy, philosophy, and what it may (or may not) mean to be Filipinx in America.
It’s been halfway done for years.
To get myself to finally push through the second half, I’m launching a realtime journal of fragments-in-progress or drafts that will be cut from the manuscript that I will eventually submit to my editors at University of Washington press.
Subscribers to this newsletter get an exclusive first look at this book, as well as updates on its progress, ramblings, uncle jokes, book and film reviews, and maybe even some merchandise baskets or previews of new music. You can provide feedback and critique and maybe get a shout out in the book’s acknowledgement section.
