Hi there Geo, another book about local Seattle history, told from our point of view is by Megan Asaka, who grew up in Sea but now is teaching at UC Riverside. See this link: https://historynewsnetwork.org/blog/154683

Enjoying your writing. Thanks for sharing your perspective with the world.

As for recommended reading: a forgotten history of Seattle can be found in “on American Soil” by Jack Hamman. A WWII Italian POW was imprisoned at Fort Lawton (Magnolia) and murdered with the crime pinned on black American soldiers. The microcosm of racial tensions felt in America played out in 1940s Seattle.

"As summer approaches in Seattle, we catch a glimpse of what it feels like far down the coast most of the year."

Oh yeah. When my dad moved out there from Virginia when I was young, Seattle was enough of a whole new world that I didn't even really think about the rest of the continent. But once I followed him when I was in high school, California started to take on a mythical quality, like whatever was waiting down I-5 was this mythical beast. A lot of that was fueled by what I was hearing on KUBE. I'm back east now, and I have a neighbor who plays Pac so incredibly loudly from his truck, and when he rolls up at the end of a work day and I hear it, I go to the place you're describing. I just wish Golden Gardens weren't so far away.

I appreciate your work for, among other things, how it connects me to a home that is very complex (as is the case for many of us and our homes). Here's a link to a bit I wrote about Seattle a little while back. You make a cameo, and I've been wanting to send it your way for a little while. https://jonathanneeley.substack.com/p/the-seattle-i-love

Looking forward to the new EP. Much love.
